Our December Listen :: Limetown
Our very first listen kicking off
starting December 1 is Two-Up Production’s Limetown.Ten years ago, over three hundred men, women and children disappeared from a small town in Tennessee, never to be heard from again. American Public Radio reporter Lia Haddock asks the question once more, "What happened to the people of Limetown?"
More of you joined this club than I expected and several of you were able to vote on a short notice for our very first show.
How do Listens work, and how do I participate?
We start a listen on the first of the month. So, on December 1st, put Limetown in your queue in your podcatcher of choice.
Our only commitment to each other is that we’ll give a new show at least three hours, which is enough to say we’ve given something the ol’ college try. If you’re hooked, try to listen to the first season. We won’t talk about anything after, unless we pick the second season as a Listen in the future.
We are experimenting with the chat right here on Substack where I’ve started the thread: “Let’s listen to Limetown // The First Three Hours of Season One” — except I already typoed “of” and wrote “off” (good start, me). You can find a link to the chat in the menu at https://amlistening.substack.com.
After 7 days, I’ll send a week-one wrap-up email that includes ideas and pull quotes from people participating in the chat. This email will also include the next poll for January, as well as launch a new chat thread for people who want to talk about the full season.
How do I listen to Limetown?
Listen in the browser on their site.
If you prefer Apple Podcasts, here you go.
Here it is on Spotify.
Limetown’s on Goodpods.
Librarian’s note: Goodpods has groups, so if we outgrow substack or need something a little more conducive to talking about episodes and shows in the style of Goodreads, maybe this is an option. Curious what ya’ll think.
If you use Overcast, here’s the link.
And anywhere good podcasts are found.
Etiquette
We are committed here, you and me, to: 1. keeping spoilers in the proper threads; and 2. to be kind and thoughtful with each other and the words we choose.
Last thing’s last
I am now officially adding Limetown to The Shelf, where we’ll chronicle our Listens and — in the future — you’ll be able to find jump links to the individual posts and discussion threads. I don’t know, maybe we’ll even come-up with a community review score. What do you think?
See you all December 1, when we’ll throw on our gear and take the side road up to a place a few miles that direction called Limetown.
